"The Need for a Safety Net to Battle Life's Struggles and Challenges"
For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
- Romans 12:5-13
For tandem riders, wind and hills are the trials and tribulations of their riding lives. Depending on where you reside, one can be more of an issue than the other. The teamwork and togetherness of tandem riding gives you an advantage in the wind and hills due to the shared effort and knowing you are not alone. Having other tandem teams riding with you can help you even more.
As couples, it’s good to have others traveling through life with us to lend the help we will need when the days turn upside down. They are part of our safety net. This net is made of many people and couples that we would have to fall through to hit rock bottom. The more people involved, the more strength your net has to catch you.
Have you ever really pondered who would come running in your time of need?
Most would quickly assume their family would. But how much could they really help? In what ways can they help? And for how long will they be able to help? You will probably need more than your family to cover every aspect of life.
Fortunately, God has made all of us very unique and incomplete at the same time. He has given each of us gifts that others do not have and others with gifts we don’t have. It’s an automatic need for community in our lives to cover all of the needs we will have.
When the winds of life blow in your faces and when you are facing uphill battles in life it’s good to know you are covered by others you can rely on.
